Schedule Formatting

INSIGHT connects to Microsoft Word for the creation and editing for policy schedules, letters and other documents. Once you've created or edited the Word document, it is then converted to an uneditable PDF document for your client.

You can create, edit and view your policy schedules through the transaction wizards. Once you select Create Documents or Post to Accounts at the end of the wizard, your schedule is inserted in the Invoice template used by your ledger and will be presented as a combined PDF document.

While this article does not have official Microsoft Word or PDF training, this article contains highlights to ensure that your formatting applied to the schedule is maintained when combined with the Invoice Template and converted to PDF.

For in depth training, we recommend that you complete a professional course in Microsoft Word.

Underlying Principle

The Schedule and Invoice template are both stored as a Word documents.
To create the final invoice, the Schedule is inserted into the Invoice template, then the combined document is converted to PDF.
When the Schedule is formatted differently from the Invoice template, the combined document follows the Invoice template's formatting - this may lead to altering the Schedule's display.

Formatting Word documents involve the following:

  • Tab Stops
  • Margins
  • Header/Footer
  • Font Styles
  • Paragraph Formatting

Whilst this article focuses on the Schedule & Invoice template, the same rules apply to a Closing, Confirmation of Cover, Client Insurance Portfolio and any other INSIGHT document templates.

Imported Data from Legacy Systems

When moving data from your legacy system to INSIGHT, documents such as Schedules, Coverage Summaries, Summary of Covers, Details of Cover or Risk Information are imported as they are. INSIGHT does not know how to automatically format these into a Word format.
