Introduction

A Client Permission Group is used to limit which clients a user can have access to. This Security setting works together with the Ledger setting, 'Allow client to be available to everybody'. When this Ledger setting is set to 'Yes', this supersedes the CPG setting and allows for the client to be set as 'Everybody' for the CPG and accessed by all users despite the CPG limit. However, when set to 'No', all clients must have a CPG, cannot be set as 'Everybody' for the CPG and only users with a matching CPG can access that client.
A user can be allocated to multiple CPGs, however, a client can only have one CPG.

Found under the Setup menu, Security contains the list of all CPGs and is where you can add, edit or delete CPGs. You can use the following to manage CPGs:

Search bar - use this to refine the list of CPGs to your search keywords. Ensure that you clear the search bar and re-select the magnifying glass, to see the full list again.
Add - used to name a CPG and add/remove users as members of the CPG.

Add, Edit & Delete

2. Use the Name field to enter the name of the CPG and the Description field to enter notes about the CPG, however, this is not a mandatory field.

3. Select + Add User to open the list of all users, choose the checkboxes beside the users you want to add, then choose the Select button.

4. Select Save.

Edit

Use Edit to do the following:

  • Add or remove users to an existing CPG
  • Update the CPG name or description

1. Select Setup, Security, Client Permission Groups, locate the CPG you want to update and select Edit beside it.

2. Make your changes and select Save.

Delete

You can only delete a CPG if it is not used by a client - as soon as a Client is using the CPG, INSIGHT will not allow you to delete it.

1. Select Setup, Security, Client Permission Groups, locate the CPG you want to update, select Delete beside it and Yes to the confirmation message.
